An initiative of IDAN · in collaboration with Design Week Lagos
National Interior Design Summit
Interiors as Infrastructure
One day for the people who commission space, and the specialists who shape it. Talks, a live design-thinking showcase and free design consultations.
Wole Soyinka Centre,
Iganmu, Lagos

Why the summit
Interior design is not a finishing trade. It is infrastructure.
Too often interior designers are brought in at the end to choose furniture. The profession offers far more: spatial strategy, workplace performance, public-space thinking and commercial judgement. NIDS puts that case in one room, in one day, in front of the people who commission space, from private homes to the hospitals, schools and public buildings Nigeria depends on.
The day
What happens on the day
Not a trade fair and not a furniture show. Every session shows how designers think.
Keynote address
One address on interior design as infrastructure, from a practitioner or someone who commissions space.
Panel session
Designers and the people who hire them, on what changes when the designer is in the room from the start.
Design thinking showcase
Members present the brief, the constraint and the resolution behind a project.
Dialogue on economy, industry and Africa
What the economy, the industry and the continent ask of interior design, and what the profession can return.
Policy dialogue
Where recognition, standards and policy stand, and what has to change next.
Built for the people who commission space
Seats are allocated to keep the room balanced between designers and clients. That is why admission is by invitation.

HR & workplace leads
Retention and return-to-office are space problems too.

Developers
The biggest repeat clients for interior work, with the most to gain from involving designers early.

Homeowners
Building or renovating now? The clinic is designed for you.

Members & students
Members present. Students meet the profession.
